Job Summary:
Beyond Essential Systems (BES) is seeking a Digital Health Project Officer to support the implementation, ongoing use, and optimisation of Tamanu, an electronic health record (EHR), in Tuvalu. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract based in Funafuti, Tuvalu.
The role focuses on supporting clinical and administrative users, system configuration, data quality, troubleshooting, training, and ensuring Tamanu is effectively embedded into routine hospital and health service workflows.
The position will work closely with clinical staff, hospital management, and the BES technical team to ensure smooth system operation and high-quality health information management.

About the role:
BES is supporting the rollout and ongoing use of Tamanu across health services in Tuvalu. There is a strong need for local, on-the-ground support for implementation and to ensure users are confident, workflows are fit for purpose, and data quality is maintained.
The Digital Health Project Officer will provide day-to-day support to Tamanu users, assist with system configuration (clinical forms, workflows, user roles, reports), support data entry and clinical documentation processes, and coordinate closely with BES technical staff for issue resolution and enhancements.
This role requires close collaboration with clinical teams, administrative staff, and Princess Margaret Hospital stakeholders. Some local travel may be required.
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), with leave and entitlements provided in line with local employment regulations. Required equipment, including a laptop, will be provided.
Role description:
The Digital Health Project Officer will support the effective use of Tamanu across participating health facilities in Tuvalu. The role includes providing user support, training, troubleshooting, and contributing to continuous system improvement. The officer will also assist with monitoring system usage, data quality, and reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Support configuration, implementation, and day-to-day use of Tamanu across hospital and health service settings.
Deliver user training, 1-1 support, and troubleshooting for Tamanu users.
Monitor Tamanu usage and data quality, identifying areas requiring additional support.
Liaise with BES teams to escalate and resolve technical issues.
Attend regular project meetings, contribute to reports, and provide updates on Tamanu usage with BES and Ministry of Health teams.
Ensure compliance with BES policies, including data protection and child protection policies.
Ensure compliance with policies (including Child Protection Policy) and fiduciary responsibilities in the carrying out of contracts.
Other responsibilities as reasonably requested by supervisors.
Selection criteria:
Qualifications:
Further study in health, IT, or a related field.
A diploma or degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Nursing, Allied Health, or IT is not required but would be an advantage.
Experience:
Experience with computers, data, reporting, or quality assurance processes.
Experience using digital health systems or providing training is highly desirable.
Previous practical experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is not required but would be an advantage.
Knowledge:
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
Basic computer and data management skills, understanding of IT systems, and confidence using digital systems.
Interest in data, systems or technology.
